Gooey Brie from Appleby Creamery, starts to melt straight from the fridge. Good creamy flavour, not too strong great with sweet cherry tomato and Serrano ham.
On first impression it looked a bit plasticky but It is creamy and very fruity. The more I eat the better it gets!
Good cheese made better by smoking, I need to ask Shills of Cockermouth where it is from.
Finally found some smoked Stilton to accompany Wee Beastie, lovely combo! Not sure where the Stilton is smoked, but it is very pleasant. The blue flavour is somewhat muted by the smokiness. Finally found some smoked Stilton to accompany Wee Beastie, lovely combo!
Blue cheese from the Saddleworth Cheese Company and my second cheese of the week with a celebrity connection, this one being made by Ex Corrie star Sean Wilson. The cheese was not too smelly, has a good blue character, with sweet nutty notes, goes well with a drop of Bowmore. Looking forward to trying other the cheese heese from Saddleworth.
Made by Alex James of Blur fame, unsurprisingly it is a blue cheese of very fine order, Alex might be new to the cheese making jungle but he is not following the herd, Well apart from getting the milk!
Good strong mature cheese from Applebys in Cheshire.
Certainly blue, quite granular and rather pungent, gets up your nose if you no what I mean! Outside my comfort zone without whisky.
I was tempted to eat the whole block, it has been out of the fridge for a while and is so soft and creamy with a subtle blue hint. Made in Germany from triple cream it is similar to Cambozola but creamier. Lovely. Especially with a glass of port.
